Bulava programme awaits launch-failure report

Project 955 class SSBNRussia's controversial RSM-56 Bulava (SSN-X-32) solid-propellant submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) programme is still feeling the impact of its most recent test flight failure on 6 September 2013.

The commission investigating the failure is expected to deliver its report in the near future.

Delivery of the second and third Bulava-armed SSBNs, the Project 955-class Alexander Nevsky (which fired the 6 September Bulava) and Vladimir Monomach , remains on hold following the suspension of their state trials after the 6 September failure.
