Technical Failure of F-16 Aircraft Closes Cerro Moreno Airport in Antofagasta

AntofagastaAccording to the information delivered by the Air Force, close to 5:35 this morning, a F-16 aircraft suffered the blowout of a tire during the takeoff process, leading to the activation of the Air Force unit and Cerro Moreno airport emergency services.

The institution said that, “the correct application of the emergency procedures on the part of the pilot permitted an effective emergency landing at 5:35 am, resulting with the pilot unharmed and the plane with minor damage.”

It is also reported, “the operation to remove the aircraft from the track without damage is running in order to clear the runway as soon as possible.”
