Swiss lawmakers Wednesday took a further step towards approving a proposed purchase of fighter aircraft from Swedish aerodefense group Saab AB, paving the way for an expected referendum on the matter next year.Lawmakers in the bicameral parliament's National Council voted 119 in favor and 70 against the deal for 22 Gripen jet fighters, with five abstentions.
Separately, the lawmakers also approved a financing package for the deal.
