HMS Raleigh to receive state of the art training system as trials begin

Trials have begun to test a new piece of equipment that will support the resupplying of the new Queen Elizabeth class carriers at sea.

The new Heavy Replenishment At Sea (RAS) land facility was built at HMS Raleigh after the Ministry of Defence awarded Rolls Royce the £25million contract to design, build and trial the system.

It will mean a huge increase in the weight capacity for the transfer of single loads between two ships via heavy tensioned wires from just two tonnes to five tonnes.
