Massive destroyer blocks head into harbour

Hobart class AWD |Three large pieces of an air warfare destroyer weighing up to 200 tonnes each are on their way down the Hunter River to Newcastle harbour.

They are being brought down from Forgacs' Tomago site on a barge and should arrive in the harbour around noon, leaving through Nobbys headland two hours later.

The pieces are bound for Adelaide where the Hobart-class destroyers will be assembled to replace the Adelaide-class frigates for the Australian Navy.
