Lt. Brandon Gasser and jet saved by air traffic controllers

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association honored two St. Louis controllers who last year saved Naval F18 fighter pilot Lieutenant Brandon Gasser.

Lt. Gasser was caught in bad weather, missed the final approach to two airports and was dangerously low on fuel.

On April 4, 2012 Kevin Cook and Steve Clark were able to guide Lt. Gasser safely into Lambert-St. Louis International Airport using only radar and radio transmissions. Gasser only had six minutes of fuel remaining when he touched down.
