Norfolk gets peek at Navy's newest destroyer

Zumwalt deckhouse |Sailors at Norfolk Naval Station got an unexpected peek this week at part of a controversial and stealthy new warship that's expected to be a crucial piece of the Obama administration's Asia-Pacific strategy.

The deckhouse of the future guided missile destroyer Zumwalt docked Monday on a barge at the installation.

The hulking gray superstructure was heading from Mississippi toward the Maine shipyard that will finish building the first-in-a-class ship when a nor'easter brewing off the mid-Atlantic coast forced the barge to stop off here.
