Ruag is pitching its Do 228NG (New Generation) for a requirement to replace the South African air force's antiquated Douglas DC-3 maritime patrol aircraft fleet.As part of its offer, the Swiss company is proposing a private/public partnership model through which it would raise the capital required to lease the aircraft, says Klaus-Peter Leinauer, its vice-president of sales.
Ruag would also provide initial training and logistical support, such as supplying spare parts, with the company to partner with a local firm for many of those activities, Leinauer says.
