Our F-16s will only last for 10 years tops. By that time half of our fleet will be grounded and be used for replacement parts. They have already been in service for twenty years and are out of updates and life-extensions. They need replacements badly. The Dutch parliament doesn't know the consequences of these cuts. We won't have an adequate air defense in terms of unit-quantaties and individual qualities. More issues with the jets will emerge and it will take it's toll eventually. Security and liberty come at it's costs and the parliament seems to forget about that. They have been accustomed to living in safety and relative peace, nearly forgetting about their guardians in the air, sea and on the land. The world is changing and we have to adapt, which in this context means; more advanced technology, durability and versitility.
ReplyDeleteThe Saab Gripen looks like a good alternative for the PM's. Much cheaper, available and 100% compensation orders.
