Two Chinese Frigates for Myanmar

[Type 053H1 (Jianghu-II Class)]The Chinese Navy (PLAN) has transferred two of their older Type 053H1 frigates (NATO name Jianghu-2) to the Myanmar Navy.

Based on an earlier Soviet Riga Class (Project 50) design of frigate the Type 053 covers a family of sub-classes with variants that were built starting in the mid 1970's until 2004.

The 053H1 class was built at the Hudong Shipyard, China from 1981 to 1988.
