Report torpedoes Collins sub fleet

Collins class submarinesA new report reveals problems with maintaining the Collins-class submarine fleet, Catherine Hockley reports.

When the first of Australia's Collins-class submarines was launched in August 1993, it was unfinished and not ready for operational deployment until seven years later.

The program to build the six submarines, based at ASC's Adelaide ship building yard, was beset with troubles from the start.
