India will soon have the capability of launching ballistic weapons from land, air and sea; as its first indigenous nuclear-powered submarine INS Arihant will be ready for operational deployment by the end of 2012 after a series of sea trials.
According to the Naval chief Nirmal Verma: “I had said that we will do so (commissioning of INS Arihant) in 2012 and by and large we are on track.
A firm date can be given only when we have the sea trials which will happen from some months from now.” The chief was responding to medi query about the INS Arihant commissioning.
