Russian Navy orders two Diesel-Electric Submarines SSK from Sevmash shipyard

Kilo class submarineAccording to ITAR-TASS quoting first deputy general director of "Sevmash" Michael Budnichenko, pre-production will begin in January, and by March 2012 the company will proceed directly to the construction of the SSK of unspecified type (most likely improved Kilo Class)

Michael Budnichenko also pointed out that Rosoboronexport is negotiating with potential foreign customers to build several submarines of Project 636 at the Svemash shipyard.

Sevmash specializes in the construction of nuclear submarines for the Russian Navy.
