US drone crashes into mountains in S Waziristan

MQ-9 ReaperA CIA-operated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed in Zangara village near the Makeen area of South Waziristan tribal region on Sunday.

Six militants were killed and three others injured in a clash between security forces and militants over an attempt to get a hold of the wreckage of the crashed plane.

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) led by Hakimullah Mehsud claimed their fighters shot down the drone, while security officials and tribal sources insisted it crashed due to a technical fault.
