Senior commanders slam navy cuts as a 'dereliction of duty'

HMS Ark RoyalSenior Falklands veterans have accused the coalition government of dereliction of duty over cuts imposed on the Royal Navy.

Naval commanders who led Britain to victory in the 1980s conflict have sent a strongly-worded letter to Prime Minister David Cameron urging him to revisit his decision to do away with Harrier jump jets.

It comes just days after the navy's flagship HMS Ark Royal made an emotional last entrance in to Portsmouth.
