  1. The United States could learn a thing or two from India right now. After the Mumbai attack, India made a commitment to increase the size of its Coast Guard. This is a sensible idea because the defense of coastal waters is probably the most important mission any nation has. We need to drastically increase the size of our Coast Guard here in the United States, given all of the many missions that are constantly being heaped on it. Hopefully, the United States will NOT have to suffer its own Mumbai attack before learning what the Indians have already learned, that a strong Coast Guard is essential to the survival of any maritime nation.
