Antonov Unveils New Military Transport

An-158Ukraine’s Anotnov aircraft designer plans to introduce a military transport version of its brand-new An-158 regional jet that made its first flight at the end of April.

The new transport, dubbed An-178, will have a payload of 15 tons and is intended to replace the aging fleet of An-12 transports, said Dmitry Kiva, president and general designer of Antonov Group, at ILA 2010.

The new aircraft is expected to have a range of 1,200 km with full load and 3,200 km with a 10 tons load.
