Illustrious stay makes 330 Fife jobs safe

HMS IllustriousThe Royal Navy’s flagship HMS Illustrious yesterday sailed into the Firth of Forth to begin a £40 million overhaul at Rosyth Dockyard.

The maintenance and upgrade contract will secure work for about 330 people at the Fife yard for the next 18 months or so.

Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy met Commodore Charles Stevenson, Naval Regional Commander for Scotland, to mark the occasion.
