The Air Force is adding more criteria to the equation as it re-evaluates where to base the new F-35, and all of its bases will now be in the running to land the next generation of fighter-bomber.However, local advocates say Luke Air Force Base remains a top contender for the F-35.
Air Force Secretary Michael Donely and Gen. Norton Schwartz, the Air Force chief of staff, have asked that additional factors, such as housing, medical access and child care, be considered in the selection of a secondary training base for the new plane.
