Alerted by Russia's foreign policy, US willing to supply Lebanese army with tanks

Alerted by Moscow's pledge to upgrade Lebanese defense capabilities by supplying ten MiG-29 fighter aircraft and training for Lebanese pilots, the United States decided to cautiously modify their earlier declared policy of restraint.

According to statements made by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern affairs David Hale, the US State Department has decided to give the green light to the delivery of M-60 tanks to the Lebanese armed forces next year.

Hale denied that the USA was motivated by competition with Russia.
