It would seem that the Bush administration may have inspired Russia to consider a Missile Shield of their own, as there have been rumors that they are considering Cuba as a potential base for their long range nuclear bombers. This would of course be an ideal spot for missiles as well.
Apparently, the Russian military have already inspected various places on Cuba for suitable landing areas for their bombers.
Venezuela has also appeared on the list and President Hugo Chávez has already agreed to increase military co-operation with Russia, which will include the purchase of further Russian weapons.
