U.S. Navy Names Three New Attack Submarines

The U.S. Navy has given names to three new Virginia Class attack submarines it plans to build, the last of which should be delivered by 2013.

Navy Secretary Donald Winter confirms the nuclear submarines will be named after three states; Missouri, California and Mississippi.

According to the Pentagon, SSN Missouri is named to honor "the continuous support of the military by the people of the 'Show Me State'" and to restore the proud name which has served many historic ships.
