Sri Lanka: No Mig29s, 3-D Radars or Guided Missiles! Only Home-grown Punnaku!

Sri Lankan President's brother cum Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa must resign with immediate effect as he has 'failed to do his job', the main opposition UNP has demanded. 'Gothabaya was at the frontline to take credit for the conquest of the Eastern province,' the UNP says.

'Equally he should be on the frontline to take the flak after an entire Air Force base is demolished,' the UNP added.

UNP MPs pointed out that after the first Air Tiger raid on Colombo's Air Force base in March, the Defence Secretary had 'Flaunted the south with rhetoric of purchasing MIG29s air-air combat crafts, advanced 3D radars and guided surface to air missiles to counter the Air Tiger threat.'

'However, to date none of these items have been purchased. More than seven months after making their debuts, the Air Tigers are able to launch such a devastating attack on a base in the centre of the island,' UNP MPs pointed out.
