Boeing may pay a penalty of $150 million to $180 million to Turkey for delays in delivering four airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, a senior Turkish procurement official said. “We are having constructive talks with Boeing officials,” the official said. “They have assured us that they would not contest the penalty clause. We are presently negotiating to find out a mutually optimal means of settling this dispute, and I guess we are not far away from it.”
He said another option under discussion is adding an aircraft to the four-plane batch instead of paying the penalty.
