US to turn over 10 refurbished Hueys to the Philippine Air Force

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usUnited States Ambassador Kristie Kenney will lead the turn-over of ten UH-1H Huey helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) at a ceremony in Villamor Air Base on Saturday, June 9.

The ten Vietnam war era helicopters, which were refurbished under a US government program, are part of the 20 aircrafts designated to the Philippines by US President George Bush as assistance to PAF’s modernization program. Ten more helicopters are set to be delivered later this year.

The US Embassy said that the renovation of the 20 aircraft was made possible through the US Foreign Military Financing program at a cost of $22 million.
