The administration will spend $131 million (about P6 billion) on helicopters as part of a long overdue upgrade of its military, Defense Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane said yesterday.
A modernization program will see about P10 billion allocated to the Armed Forces in the next two years for new equipment, such as patrol craft and armored personnel carriers.
The new purchases will include attack and utility helicopters, Ebdane told reporters.
