DoD OKs possible $260 mln sale of E-2C plane to France

The Pentagon on Tuesday said it has approved a possible $260 million sale to France of a used E-2C airplane with a Hawkeye airborne early warning suite.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said it notified Congress last week of the deal, which includes a range of spare engines, training systems and other related equipment. The plane will augment France's existing fleet of these planes, the agency said.

Northrop Grumman Corp. are the main contractors associated with the proposed deal, which is not yet final. Congress has the ability to block foreign arms sales but rarely steps in.
