Nuke-capable Prithvi-II fired after Pak test

Prithvi-II short range ballistic missileIndian scientists on Sunday successfully test-fired the surface-to-surface short range ballistic missile Prithvi-II from the integrated test range (ITR) at Chandipur.

The test comes three days after Pakistan carried a similar test of its nuclear-capable Ghauri missile. The missile was test-fired at 9.55 am.

Prithvi is one of the five missiles developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme of DRDO. Sunday's test came four months after the failed test-firing of the intermediate range ballistic missile, Agni-III, that was conducted on July 9, 2006.
