Korean Navy to Participate in Pacific Rim Exercise

The South Korean Navy is set to participate in Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2006 to be held June 25-29 in the vicinity of Hawaii, Navy officials said Friday.

RIMPAC is a biennial large-scale multinational power projection and sea control exercise conducted under the leadership of the U.S. Third Fleet. This is South Korea's ninth participation in the maritime exercise since 1990, they said. RIMPAC started in 1971.
