Sea Breeze Exercise Begins in Black Sea

USS Donald Cook (DDG-75)The U.S. Navy joined Ukraine and nine other allied or partner nations in an annual exercise in the contentious Black Sea, but got an unusually friendly greeting from a Russian warship, VADM James G. Foggo III said Sept. 2.

Sea Breeze 2015 is the latest iteration in the annual multinational exercise co-hosted by the United States and Ukraine.

“Our goal is to promote regional security and to foster trust among the participating nations,” Foggo, U.S. Sixth Fleet commander, said in a telephone conference call from his Naples, Italy, headquarters.
