BAE Lands $130M Navy Destroyer Gun Update Contract

 5''/62 caliber Mark 45 Mod 4 Naval gunBAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has been awarded a $130 million contract to update Mk 45 gun systems onboard the U.S. Navy’s destroyers.

BAE Systems Inc. said Wednesday it will work to incorporate into the Mk 45 naval guns several Mod 4 configuration functions, such as new mount subsystems, a 62-caliber barrel, new control tools and a gun shield.

The subsidiary will initially update six Mk 45 platforms and eventually overhaul four additional gun systems if the service branch exercises its option in 2016.
