Navy Still Undecided on Submarine INS Sindhurakshak's Fate

INS SindhurakshakThe Navy is yet to decide on the fate of ill-fated submarine INS Sindhurakshak, which met with a fatal accident claiming the lives of 18 crew at Mumbai Naval dockyard in 2013.

As the Navy is exploring various options, converting the damaged submarine into a training platform for the Naval divers is one of it.

Ten months after the Russian-made Kilo-class submarine sank on August 14, 2013, it was raised with the help of the Indian arm of US-based M/S Resolve Marine. Sources claim that various options are being considered to make it operational.
