Canadian warship expected back in Halifax this weekend

HMCS Fredericton (F 337)HMCS Fredericton is slated to return to Halifax on Sunday after a seven-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea prompted by the Ukraine crisis.

The frigate left Halifax at the end of December to take part in Operation Reassurance.

During the deployment, Fredericton and five other NATO warships spent just over two weeks in the Black Sea as a show of force against Russian aggression toward Ukraine. After a series of training exercises, the group returned to the Mediterranean.
