ASC ‘not the only option’ for building Future Submarines

ASCDefence chiefs told Estimates that though ASC has the pre-eminent workforce now, it might not be right for a newly designed submarine.

They also conceded the Government could override the results of the competitive evaluation process and pick a different international partner.

Estimates also heard that the $10 billion Future Frigates could be built offshore rather than in SA and that there are delays affecting the $10 billion LAND 400 project — which SA is competing against Victoria to win.
