A Senior party figure is "100 per cent confident" a Labour government would build four Trident successor submarines in Barrow.
Vernon Coaker, Labour’s shadow secretary of defence, was given a tour of BAE Systems Submarine’s Devonshire Dock Hall complex this afternoon.
He met with senior management, apprentices and trade union representatives.
The visit comes as Labour’s general election candidate for Barrow and Furness, John Woodcock, has been under fire over the party’s commitment to renewing Trident.
