UTC Aerospace, Newport News Shipbuilding in submarine component deal

USS Minnesota (SSN 783)Composite components for the next 10 Virginia-class submarines to be built for the U.S. Navy are to be supplied by UTC Aerospace Systems.

UTC said that under an agreement signed with Newport News Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries, the components will be supplied through 2020 for the Block IV attack submarines.

"Our proven performance in supplying composite components on Virginia Class Block III was crucial to ensuring we continue to be a key supplier for this program," said UTC Aerostructures President Marc Duvall.
