Seaman photographs submarine in Gulf of Finland

Unknown submarineA rare snap of underwater craft taken by man on cargo vessel gives no cause to suspect anything out of the ordinary, insists the Finnish Coast Guard, adding that Russian-built submarines are often tested in the deep waters of the Baltic.

A rare photograph capturing a submarine surfacing in waters off the coast of Finland gives no cause to suspect anything out of the ordinary, the Finnish coastguard has said.

A sailor on a merchant ship snapped the craft in the early hours of Monday morning, in international waters southwest of Helsinki.
