South Australian Liberal MPs have challenged their boss, Prime Minister Tony Abbott, over the release of damning figures on the Air Warfare Destroyer on the eve of its launch.
Last Friday, the day before luminaries gathered in Adelaide to celebrate the unveiling of the HMAS Hobart, reports emerged that the AWD project was running $2 billion over budget and three years over schedule.
The Advertiser has been told that yesterday in the Coalition’s joint partyroom meeting, Boothby MP Andrew Southcott asked Mr Abbott why the figures had been leaked at that moment, and was joined by his Grey colleague, Rowan Ramsey.
