Carrier Lincoln hits half-way mark of shortened overhaul

USS Abraham LincolnOfficials at Newport News Shipbuilding intend to finish George Washington's refueling and complex overhaul here by early 2021, as scheduled, despite an 11-month delay caused by a budget battle between Congress and Navy leaders.

They also plan to keep the carrier John C. Stennis' overhaul on schedule. That is good news for sailors.

Getting those flattops back to the fleet on time is crucial to shortening deployments and making ship schedules predictable again.
