PLA's South Sea Fleet improves torpedo loading speed

Type 052C DDG (Haikou)In late March, a PLA South Sea Fleet torpedo crew on board the Type 052C destroyer Haiku used a new torpedo loader to halve the time it takes to load a torpedo during an exercise, according to the PLA Daily, the mouthpiece of China's armed forces.

The torpedo was loaded on the first attempt despite 3-meter high waves, according to the paper.

The leader of the Haikou's torpedo squad Wang Weiqiang said, "Before we needed lots of people working closely together to load the torpedoes but now we can do it easily with half the number of crew."
