USS North Dakota almost ready for deployment

USS North Dakota (SSN-784)60-month process of building a submarine with North Dakota’s namesake and training its crew is nearly completed. The USS North Dakota could be deployed for action within two months.

Tim Preabt, master Chief of the USS North Dakota and a state native, paid a visit to the North Dakota Senate and House this week to thank the state for its support and give an update on its progress.

Preabt said the submarine, which has been out to sea for about six months, runs 24 hours a day and the 145-member crew works in 18-hour cycles.
