Colonel Merryl Tengesdal: First female African-American U-2 spy pilot promoted


America's first and only African-American woman to fly the elite U-2 spy plane is being promoted to colonel.

Lt. Col. Merryl Tengesdal’s job gives her a unique perspective of the world. She says she's seen the curvature of the earth from her “office.”

"You just feel like you're kind of leaving the Earth in some ways. And wow, there's a lot of things that we just don't understand out there," said Tengesdal.
