Fifth P-8 Squadron Transition to Begin in March

The Navy will begin the transition of a fifth patrol squadron to the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft in March.

Patrol Squadron 10 (VP-10), based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., will retire its P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft following its deployment to the U.S. Fifth Fleet and begin training in the P-8A with the fleet replacement squadron, VP-30.

The only other remaining operational P-3 squadron in Jacksonville, VP-26, departed on Jan. 22 to a tri-site deployment in support of the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Fleets. Upon return late this year, it will begin transition to the P-8A.
