F/A-50 Fighting Eagle do not rely much on ground based surveillance system

F/A-50 Fighting EaglePhilippine Air Force told the state-run news agency that F/A-50 Fighting Eagle has a radar system that can go on autonomous air patrols without relying too much on ground based surveillance system.

PAF Lt. Col. Enrico Canaya added that “it has its own onboard radar systems so it can detect (any hostile air threats) while on patrol.”

Department of National Defense earlier said one of the reasons it chose the South Korean made jet is the radar system. Its radar system was also designed to accomplish air-to-air and airstrike missions.
