Sydney sends HMAS Success to the Middle East for operation Manitou

HMAS SuccessThe Royal Australian Navy has farewelled HMAS Success from Sydney as part of operation Manitou and the Australian Defence Force's contribution to the international coalition against terrorism.

Navy families said goodbye to mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters onboard the Australian auxiliary oiler nicknamed the "Stealth Tanker" for a six-month mission that will involve logistical support for coalition frigates and destroyers including sea-to-sea fuel, ammunitions, food and stores replenishment.

Sailors left their loved ones a month before Christmas, knowing the main contact they would have would be via electronic communication.
