Navy establishing project for indigenous submarines

Hai Lung (Zwaardvis) class SSKThe Navy is in the process of establishing a project to build submarines on its own, Navy Chief of Staff Hsiao Wei-min said Thursday during a legislative hearing.

According to ruling Kuomintang Legislator Lin Yu-fang, between 2016 and 2019, the Navy is supposed to complete a design blueprint and budget NT$3 billion (US$98 million) to NT$4 billion for the project.
