Australia sends frigates, planes to flank Russian naval convoy ahead of G20


Two Australian frigates, the HMAS Parramatta and Stuart, have been dispatched to flank and monitor a Russian naval convoy in the waters off northern Australia.

The Russian convoy is currently in the Coral Sea off the coast of Australia, and it remains in international waters.

It's led by the flagship cruiser the Varyag, steaming alongside a destroyer, a tanker and a specialised tug boat.
