U.S. fighter jet drops fuel tanks due to emergency

F-16 Fighting FalconTwo fuel tanks were dropped from a U.S. fighter jet Wednesday due to an emergency situation, but no casualties were reported, the U.S. Air Force said.

The F-16C Fighting Falcon dropped the auxiliary fuel tanks at around noon after an emergency situation took place inside the jet, it said, without elaborating further.

The tanks fell on a rice paddy some 11 kilometers southeast of the Gunsan Air Base in the southeastern city of Gimje, North Jeolla Province, and just some 200 meters away from an elementary school, though no casualties were reported.
