Saab offers Swiss business deals in vote over Gripen jet fighter

JAS-39 GripenSaab appears to have a better chance of winning backing from Swiss voters for one of its most important fighter jet export contracts after the Swedish defence company agreed to hand SFr405m ($461m) worth of business to Swiss companies.

The contracts are contingent on the Swiss public voting in favour of buying Saab’s Gripen jet fighter in a May 18 general referendum.

Many of the 546 contracts are for Swiss companies to produce parts of the Gripen.
