DRDO gets flying test bed for testing airborne radars, aerospace systems

DO-228 NabhrathnaThe Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) has met a long-felt need by taking delivery of a flying test bed for testing airborne radars and aerospace systems developed by it.

The aircraft, a modified Dornier, was handed over to DRDO chief Avinash Chander by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chairman R K Tyagi at HAL, Kanpur yesterday.

Mr Chander, who is also Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister and Secretary, Department of Defence Research & Development, said many systems such as maritime patrol radar, synthetic aperture radar, data link, electro-optics and electronic warfare systems were lined up for testing in the new facility.
